GOLD COAST PERFORMING ARTS ASSOCIATION
It all started way back in 1992 when the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza was being built. We knew we'd need to compete with the larger presenting organizations so we created our own 800 pound gorilla - a free association of performing arts groups who wanted stage time in the theatres. Members of the Association were Cabrillo Music Theatre (now 5 Star Theatricals), Young Artists Ensemble, Marla Bingham Contemporary Ballet and Gold Coast Theatre Conservatory. Shortly after we created Gold Coast Plays, the Equity Theatre Company of the Association.
Under the guidance of Larry Janss, GCPAA used its business skills to organize fundraising, write grants, and provide group sales, administration and other front office support. GCPAA still exists as an umbrella organization to the Conservatory and Plays, and provides publicity services to Young Artists Ensemble.
